16+ Art & Design
Year 12 entry
The Art and Design Department offers scholarships across both disciplines, and students will need to specify either an Art or Design pathway to specialise in during the application process.
We are looking for forward thinking, curious students who relish creative challenges. They should have a strong visual vocabulary and the ability to provide solutions to creative problems.
The programme will provide scholars with:
- Advanced development time with subject teachers
- Access to specific high level machinery training and technical workshops
- Termly mentoring session
- Annual exhibition in the school gallery
- All materials and department trips fully funded
- Annual report to parents
Expectations:
- Lead and mentor younger students within the department
- Enhance the experience of others through your passion and commitment to your subject

Application deadline: Friday 16th October 2026
By the application deadline, submit to Admissions an e-portfolio for your chosen discipline within Art & Design. You most specify either an Art or Design pathway. The format should be Powerpoint, Google slides or PDF
Please see below for the specific requirements for each discipline:
Art
- 15 pieces of recent work including sketchbooks and all relevant GCSE work
Design
- Maxium 10 pages (20 sides) of design work from the last 18 months

Assessment date: Wednesday 11th November 2026
Art
- 2-hour timed studio drawing task
- Interview with the Head of Art and Design
- Interview with the Principal
Design
- Practical technical problem-solving and basic 3D modelling challenge
- Interview with the Head of Art and Design
- Interview with the Principal
