Monkton Combe School Celebrates Excellent GCSE Results

Monkton is celebrating an excellent set of GCSE Results today, with early analysis indicating significant positive value added across the cohort, alongside a host of outstanding individual and collective successes.

This year’s results reflect a year group that has achieved strongly across a broad range of subjects, with particularly impressive performances in both core and creative disciplines.  Pupils have attained strong outcomes while making significant progress and have delivered results of which they can be genuinely proud.

Across the year group:

• An outstanding 55% of all grades were 9 to 7
• 63% of grades in both Maths and English were 9 to 7
• More than 75% of grades were 9 to 7 in Design, Geography, History, Mandarin (non-native
speakers), French, Photography and TPE
• 40% achieved at least 57 points across their best subjects, representing a significant
achievement

One particular pupil secured a clean sweep of grade 9s, an exceptional accomplishment achieved by
fewer than 0.2% of pupils nationally.

Victoria Armand-Smith, Deputy Head Academic, said: “Early analysis of our GCSE results indicates that value added will be very strong. Pupils have worked with ambition, determination and focus throughout the year and should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”

Bradley Salisbury, Principal at Monkton, said: “For some pupils, their greatest achievement has been gaining a top grade in a subject they have worked incredibly hard to master. For others, it has been achieving several grades above where they started the year. Every one of those achievements represents progress, resilience and potential realised.”

He added: “We are incredibly proud of this cohort and the way they have responded to challenge. Their results are a testament to their hard work and to the belief they have shown in what they can achieve.”
